Location:          Waterloo Lodge School, Chorley (Will also include educating the pupil off site)

Salary:              Up to £17,500 dependent on experience

Hours:              8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

Contract:          Fixed Term, Term Time only

About the School:

Waterloo Lodge is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 11 to 16, catering for children with a wide range of needs in Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas. About the Role:

Waterloo Lodge School caters for children aged 11-16 and has an occupancy of 55 pupils. Our aim is to change young people’s lives and through the use of accredited courses, we will always provide our pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed, beyond Waterloo Lodge School.  Who we are looking for? We are looking for 2 experienced practitioners who will work with a pupil with complex needs

 

Essential qualities:

  • Ability to effectively implement curriculum and program activities.
  • Ability to effectively manage challenging behaviour and promote responsible student behaviour and decision-making.
  • Ability to prepare and plan effectively.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of child and/or youth development concepts and different learning styles; demonstrated enthusiasm for working with young people, especially as pertains to the Autism
  • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve own performance including participating in professional development.
  • A thorough up to date knowledge of the range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and how to implement them effectively. To be successful you must have: Knowledge of Sensory Environments/Sensory Diets
  • Good behaviour management skills.
  • Have a passion to work with young people & be committed to safeguarding children.
  • Be able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team.

 

Desirable qualities:

  • Experience of working with pupils who have ASC
  • Experience of Sensory Diets
  • Experience of developing social skills
  • Forrest schools experience
  • Team Teach trained

 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour. Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, the right kind of motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.
