20th July 2020
Dear parents and carers
As we reach the end of this extremely unusual academic year, I would just like to take this opportunity to express my pride and admiration in how brilliantly everyone in our school community has worked together in the face of the immense changes to our lives that the battle against the Coronavirus pandemic has caused.
As parents and carers, this has been a really difficult time for you as you coped with your own worries and trying to keep your children engaged and occupied whilst we were all required to stay at home. I would like to thank you all for the support you have given to your children as we all tried to ensure that they were able to continue with their education as best as possible whilst they were unable to attend school.
This way of working was very new to us all and not something that we had prepared for, so I think you should be incredibly proud of all you have achieved for your children over the past fifteen weeks. There are many things that we have all learnt from this situation but the most important one is that the health and wellbeing of your children was our top priority and came before everything else!
The 2020/2021 academic year will commence with each class coming in for just one day during the first week apart from the Birkacre class, who will attend all week.
Wednesday 2nd September 2020 – Birkacre, KS3/1, KS3/2 and KS3/3 classes
Thursday 3rd September 2020 – Birkacre, KS4/1 and KS4/2 classes
Friday 4th September 2020 – Birkacre, KS4/3 and KS4/4 classes
Please note that as of September, attendance will no longer be voluntary and absences will be closely monitored.
From week commencing Monday 7th September 2020 all classes will return to school at 8.40am. I have enclosed a copy of the 2020/2021 school calendar which can also be found on the school’s website.
The School Day will start at 8.40am each day and finish at 2.45pm Monday – Thursday and 1.30pm on Friday. Polite reminder: taxis can only wait a maximum of five minutes, therefore please ensure your child is ready and waiting for their taxi each morning.
All pupils will be given two school jumpers; they will be required to wear either a white Polo Shirt or white blouse/shirt, grey/black trousers/skirt. School uniform is compulsory and must be worn at all times. Incentives will be given at the end of each term for excellent attendance and wearing of full uniform.
As a school we have, and continue to do so, followed the Government guidelines in taking every precaution possible regarding the Coronavirus. If a member of your household becomes unwell with a continuous cough, temperature above 37.6, loss of taste or sense of smell, they should self-isolate at home for 7 days and all other family members for 14 days. Any child showing symptoms during the school day will need to be collected and taken home. Please ensure the school office have your up to date contact details.
I hope you all have a lovely, safe summer and I look forward to getting back to some sort of normality and welcoming all our pupils back in September. If you have any queries please email: email@example.com or telephone Sharon or Nicky in reception on: 01257 230894.
My warmest wishes for a restful summer holiday to you and your family.
Mrs Helen R Rigby
