The Art Teacher at Waterloo Lodge School set up an Art Exhibition showcasing the creative skills of the year 11 Art and Design GCSE students. This consisted of the work produced over the course of their individual study. The students worked from a set brief which they creatively individualised through their developed skills and techniques such as; drawing, ceramics, sculpture, collage, fabric dyeing and textiles.
We celebrated their achievements through inviting staff, pupils and parents/carers to the opening of the Art Exhibition. In which they were greeted year 9 pupils who volunteered to hand out refreshments.
We received a lot of positive feedback from pupils, parents and staff. One parent stated “It looks amazing, I’m so proud of my daughter!” Parent/carer of Year 11 Art student. While staff members were really impressed with the atmosphere that had been created. “It really did feel like a real exhibition” stated a member of staff. “The exhibition was a unique way of showcasing the pupil’s talents. Seeing all the pupils showcase their work and the response from others was hugely gratifying.” Mr Stryker, Head of Student Support.
